What is a browser game?
A browser game runs in a Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari tab with nothing installed on your computer. The games on PlayTab are ports: developers recompiled the original engine, often to WebAssembly, so it runs on the web.
Do I need to download anything?
No. Click “Play” and the game loads in your browser. The first load can take a moment while the game data comes in. A site that asks you to install a program is not a browser game: do not install it.
Are the games free?
PlayTab is free, and the listed ports are freely accessible fan projects. Some need the original game files, which you must own, for example a copy bought on Steam or GOG.
Does PlayTab host the games?
No. PlayTab is a directory of links: every game is hosted by its author on their own site. We store no game files.
Does it work on a phone?
It depends on the port. Most FPS games are built for keyboard and mouse. Halo CE mobile supports touch controls. On a computer, an up-to-date browser works best.
How do I suggest a game?
Click “Suggest a game” and send the link. Every suggestion is checked before it appears on the site.
